Why should you live life with no regrets?

I spoke to older people, observed younger people and their direction, and engaged with people of my age group. I then concluded that nothing is guaranteed. Why should you live life with no regrets? What is guaranteed is the here and the now. I’ve let some old thought patterns go as my life had to adapt.
