What do you think of when you see this question? Do you think that this means you have to be more i.e. on a grand scale? Nope, you can start with living your truth today with the small things in life.
What do I mean by living your truth?
- Living your truth equals living your true beauty. Living your truth means keeping your commitment to yourself. Living your truth means settling for the best and that means that if someone wishes to give you an incredible gift accept it with the thought that the person sees your worth. We women often have the tendency to think that we’re not worthy of amazing gifts or that it’s not possible to receive something incredibly awesome without a catch.
- Living your truth means that you have accepted yourself without judgement completely.
- Oprah Winfrey says on this video you cannot live your truth if you are keeping a secret or pretending to be someone you’re not then you cannot become all that you were meant to be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmmIrB9Rebc
- Living your truth means that what you secretly dream of doing you actually start doing. This also means that you’re secretly sitting in a meeting thinking of a great idea but can’t get yourself to say it because of fear. We often manipulate and self-sabotage our most vulnerable feelings, opinions, discomfort etc.
How does living your truth benefit you?
- Living your truth helps you face your demons. One of them is about how you might be judged. At first, it’s scary but what you think people are thinking of you is often not what they’re thinking at all. The truth will set you free.
- Living your truth opens your heart and by sharing your story you never know who you are helping. By honouring your truth, you have found your superpower and by opening your heart you will find your worth. No need for external validation.
- There is only one person like you and that’s you. No one can share the exact truth as you. Only you know your life, only you know yourself well enough and therefore you are the expert at your own truth and your truth will find the people it will resonate with in one way or another.
- This part in this link I could resonate with, “When things came to me easily I blew them up”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSm94x6uONc
- Living your truth surrounds you with people that are aligned to you.
- At the beginning living your truth might seem like it’s causing havoc but in fact, it’s a blessing as it sandpapers down old relationships from what people always thought they knew about you to what they really and truly know about you now. Living your truth brings blessing and supportive people around you. It’s better to be around truly genuine people.
- Living your truth is the truth and doesn’t involve any people pleasing.
- When you start living your truth you respect people enough to tell them the truth.
- Speaking your truth creates healthy boundaries.
Some quotes on living your truth
You are the expert everyone else is taken. 15:00, 21 May 2019, T. Dench Patel
“Some people are living the illusions of others, instead of living the truth of themselves.” Jackov Kanani
“Be your true self and speak your truth. Even if it means you are the only one doing it.” Anonymous
“Live your life from a point of truth and you will survive everything, everything, I believe even death, you will survive everything if you can live your life from a point of truth.” Oprah Winfrey
When living your truth, you are bound to be who you are at that moment i.e. being vulnerable, not knowing an answer, telling your story or when things are not going your way. There will be many times people will try to cross your boundaries, criticised (even being yourself people will criticise you even if you’re trying to be perfect you will still be criticised), betrayed, disrespected and god knows what.
With living your truth this is what stood out from Oprah’s words: When people show you who they are, believe them, believe them the first time, not the twenty-ninth time. That is particularly good when it comes to men situations because when he doesn’t call the first time, when you’re mistreated the first time, when you see someone that shows you a lack of integrity and dishonesty the first time know that that will be followed by many many many other times that will at some point in your life come back to haunt or to hurt you. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.
1) When you speak your truth, you are not responsible for other people’s feelings and actions thereafter.
2) Your truth is your power, do not give your power away.
3) Your truth comes from your highest self and your intuition, ignoring it means you’re ignoring the path you should be on or helping those deserving of hearing it at that moment in time. It could change their life for the better.
What’s stopping you from speaking your truth?
- Judgement – what people might think of you.
- Fear – People often confuse what is real (the truth) and think you’re being negative. The fear of being made fun of or being ridiculed or afraid you might offend someone.
- Self-worth – Perhaps previously speaking your truth never made a difference to the countless number of situations i.e. be it in a social event, with family, the workplace or with more powerful people and now you’ve given up trying.
