Hello friends,
Hope you are well today.
Here we are on another topic. I’ll tell you why I’ve come onto this topic in a moment.
You know if there was one thing I’ve had to give up when I went travelling then it was the right to follow through on my favourite TV series. Do you remember the series, Dark Angel? Gosh, I really liked that series and then before I knew it, it was time to leave the world I knew back then (19 years ago). I even remembered what everyone was doing at home at that time while I was out there starting a new life. Life went on and life goes on… even for Jessica Alba.
There I was, one evening some months ago when I just happened to have some fifteen/twenty minutes free. I sat in the lounge and was watching something weird. I thought, “Wait a minute, isn’t this that series everyone was talking about in one of my many jobs?” Hmm, what’s it called again? … Breaking, nope… Prison Break… nope, that’s another one… Deadman walking… hmmm. Come on help me out here! ….
Yes… The Walking Dead.
No offence, director of that series, but seriously…Do people actually watch that? Obviously, they do… If everyone was talking about it even in their jobs (just so you know).
By the way, this article has been inspired by the Zombie life from that series that I believe a lot of people live currently unless they’ve been awakened. Okay, if you’re not awake I am going to wake you up with this code. Pay attention now. Here is the code.
1111
1111
1111
1111
Bizarre, that was… my clock was 1111 at this very moment. Meaning 1 (as in January), 1 (as in one o’clock UK time in the afternoon) and 11 meaning eleven minutes past one.
Alright, now that you are awake, (hope you’re not cheating, reading this article while drinking a coffee ?) we can now begin to understand how this article titled Know your limits is linked to the Zombie world.
I am going to ask you some questions.
- Do you know when your body is telling you that it needs sleep and do you listen to it?
- Do you just go around falling asleep wherever you sit basically like the way a dog does (a cat makes a life for itself) instead of putting your pyjamas on and calling it a night?
- Do you notice when you’re spiralling into a negative thinking pattern?
- Are you living your life on autopilot and very rarely go on manual; think about things before you do them or before you speak?
- Do you notice if you’re organised or not?
- Do you make a schedule so that you have free time to pursue hobbies, passions etc?
- Are you following the rest of the zombies so that you don’t have to face reality and use that as an excuse along with tons of other excuses not to be better or do better? Being selective in your thinking? Being selective about choosing standard thoughts that never got you anywhere in the past?
- Is your life going in circles?
- Do you know when it’s time to let what’s not serving your life go?
- Do you know when to say Yes or NO?
- Do you apply logic in your life?
- Are you going through life aimlessly, lack motivation, zest, and have no goals and make no plans to get a better life for yourself?
- Do you know your limits when it comes to partying, sex, drinking alcohol, eating, etc. and do you take action in order to have a healthy body and a healthy life?
- Do you know when you’re burnt out?
- Do you know your limits when it comes to your romantic relationship and other relationships?
- Do you know the amount of closeness you can tolerate so that you can be productive and creative?
If your answer is yes to most of these questions, then you are living The Walking Dead. It won’t help if I tell you that you are one of many zombies on planet earth until you have, feel and see the awakening.
I particularly like these sentences from the article in this link Knowing your limits and boundaries.
“Our boundaries are the limits we set by choice rather than from old habits and sub-conscious conditioning. Your boundaries affect your self-concept, self-respect, feelings, energy levels, and your happiness – and they also ensure that you get your needs met and aren’t being taken advantage of.”
I particularly like these sentences from the article in this link Back off.
“We expect unconditional love, unfailing nurturance, and protection. There is also the expectation that the new partner will make up for the characteristics we lack in our own personality –for example, that he or she will be an outgoing soul to compensate for our shyness or a goal-oriented person to provide direction in our messy life.”
“The closer we get to another person, the greater the risks of intimacy. It’s not just that we are more vulnerable and defenseless. We are also more emotionally unstable, childish, and less intelligent than in any other situation. You may be able to run a large company with skill and judgment, but be immature, ultra-sensitive, and needy at home. Civilized rules of conduct often get suspended. Intimacy is both unnerving and baffling”
I highly recommend the article on the link above, it’s absolutely good, it really does go into the pros and cons of intimacy, healthy retreats, good intimacy, shifting gears and S.O.S signals.
This article is also very good Seven ways to say no and keep good relations.
This article is also very good The limits of ambition.
I particularly like these sentences from the article in this link How to discover your sweet spot?
“Let me provide a few examples:
If you don’t exercise enough, you’ll never derive the full benefits of physical exertion. But if you over-exercise, you won’t add to your energy (one of exercise’s many benefits) but instead deplete it, drain it away. And rather than help decrease your stress, which the right amount of exercise can do, you’ll actually end up adding to it. For doing anything to excess either propels your organism into a stressful state, or exacerbates it.”
Lastly, the article on this link is also very good Knowing your limits what are boundaries and why are they important?
Hey, I hope I’ve successfully helped you get out of Zombieland so that you can lead yourself and others.
Yours sincerely,
T. Dench Patel
