Hey friends,
Happy Thursday,
My pinky finger is doing alright, just imagine if I injured my middle finger? Now that would be something else altogether. T. Dench Patel would come across very rude if natural colour plasters were having to keep the middle finger upright for the most part of the day. That would be a sight for sore eyes. 😀 I mean walking outdoors like that would be easy right? Especially if you bump into someone you don’t like (actually, there’s no one around here that I feel that way about 😊). Who needs a confrontation? We’re being challenged to use non-verbal communication. We’re all wearing masks anyway… Keep calm or more like keep quiet and act like Dory.
While I lived in Spain, I found this quote in the subject title pretty interesting, however, in my life out there I seem to be jumping from the fire to the frying pan quite a few times. You and I know this right? Even Kylie Minogue sings about it, i.e., better the devil you know, even Eminem… no not M&M that’s almost like smarties… where was I, yes, even Eminem married the same woman twice, think about why you think the high school sweetheart who dated you or you them for years split up and got back together. Nope not at all, I am sure it should be better the angel you know in many cases too (trying to test how that fits into Kylie Minogue’s song… naaa naaa na, nana nana na doesn’t gel).
You know, let’s face it…If you’re jumping from the fire to the frying pan the heat is supposed to be low right? … my frying pans were on high and that’s not how it works, the point is, it should go down considerably less … why not jump into the familiar, right, where all the pigs are sitting together in their blankets happy and merry? (pigs in blankets is a popular meal during Christmas). What now? First, I call you a pig, your significant other a devil, then I’m advising you to be calm and act like Dory, then I’m calling that one an angel… woooo… flounder is getting upset… hahah just playing, once upon a time I was a pig stitched up in a blanket, right now people are either like flounder, Dory but one thing for sure is that there is an angel to all of us as well as a devil and it depends which one is dominant.
So, when it comes to this article, living in the mediocre world this is something you’re bound to face, in fact, we’ve all been there at some point in our lives, right? We’ve all had moments where we had very few things to choose from i.e., knowing you’re walking into hell, the realisation that you’re in hell, the best thing to do is either go through hell and come out on the other side (sometimes that is the only choice) or return to the thing you know best. For example, I knew a lot of South Africans who went and travelled abroad at a young age but very few could go all-in when it came to what they really desired, the stakes were high, the risks, not light at all. Many returned to familiar ground while some dared to see what would happen if they dared to risk it all. Almost like aim for the moon, if you do miss, you may hit a star, what’s the point of falling among the stars…? You’re still going to fall, and there’s no glory at looking at the scenery while you’re falling… You either on the moon or on the star if neither remember how close you were, are and can be, remember the scenery and keep trying till you get there. (You never know if the Starship will pass by. Who knows, you might even get a lift to Mars and after that, the opportunities are just incredible).
So, I get it, better the devil or angel you know it is up to you. So yes, hands up, I take responsibility for all my choices not going right or those that are going well. It showed and still shows me a lot, hey, I’m flawed, I don’t know any person who isn’t…the system is flawed, I get to tell people what went wrong or at least warn them of “the system.” I get to point out where change can take place for the better, I get to do it with humour, entertainment, with creativity. I get to make up the whole background, the world, space, scenery, heck, even Mars … I get to create it all and bring it to life and make an impact in a very interesting way. So, maybe better the devil you know is actually the better influence on where your destiny is taking you. There’s no right answer to this it’s only right if it feels right. – T. But one advice, please, anyone taking domestic violence out there, this is the truth… just leave, leave and take time out on your own no matter how hard it is (don’t dive into another relationship) before you find yourself having to go back to better the devil you know. There are just too many women who do this and then never leave, their dreams stay buried deep under all their scars and wounds.
Yours sincerely,
T. Dench Patel
