Yes, I know on the writer’s journey in the non-fiction world the street is full of “ed” even while the story is “ing” written. I know aspiring writers that people look towards, still don’t know how to, shall I say… put it in words… hmmm ahaaaa! Yes, they don’t know how to tell you about the credentials you will acquire in one year without even knowing it, yes that sales job one takes on ever since they decide to go for a career in writing full time; car sold, furniture sold, or their clothes… Well, mine was what optimists call “divine intervention” I call it “divine invention” due to an economic crisis in 2009.
Oh, yes, I can tell a person a lot of stories about starting a career in writing. I mean even dating coaches get jealous because writers are even more knowledgeable about rejection. Hey but guess what, we’re not talking about that today though. Today we’re talking about what no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir or short piece of non-fiction content.
Now, what no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir, or short piece of non-fiction content that I will share with you below isn’t always going to be the case for every writer.
This is because non-fiction also falls under memoirs, travel guides, travelogues, education, journalism, self-help and even how-to books.
Specific to memoirs, biographies, history, non-fiction short stories, or non-fiction novels be ready to know below what no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir, or a non-fiction short story?
Did anyone ever tell you this?
- Now that you have completed the brain dump process how many buckets of tears did you collect rather than words per minute?
- How many emotional memories have been revived?
- How much of the truth you have seen compared to what wasn’t visible in the literal “ed” state to the “ing” state of your writing along with the past being revived?
- I bet you didn’t think that you had more baggage. It was just forgotten or hiding until it was revived. Awareness on really how long you’ve been carrying around this baggage will surface.
- Be ready for bitterness, anger, rejection, injustice, laughter, happiness, love and more to come up.
- Did you know what you just got yourself into? I bet you had no idea all that has come up mentally, emotionally, physically and the one you must be ready for spiritually.
What no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel or memoir was this, this is the most important thing I would say when it comes to writing non-fiction.
Process all the thoughts, energy and baggage that has come up especially if new pages are going to be written day after day after day…
Trust me, you want to find a process to cleanse yourself “of” this or you could end up carrying something new, and not positive with you from that point on, which you might not ever find out until another 5, 10 or more years go by.
Yes, you could end up amplifying sadness, depression, anxiety, to a larger extent than what you currently carry. It is important to always keep in mind that you have become who you are today because of marked events in your life which have been making you into a better version of yourself all along.
Get right back into the correct mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual state that you deserve after you finish that session, this is your responsibility.
What no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir or short piece of non-fiction content is not to confuse your past with your present, which is why it’s long gone or your present with your future. Let the past be in the past, once revived, it will be revived even relived over and over again from the start of writing the book, article, paragraphs to the process of letting the book leave your hands. Remember reading and editing chapters over and over again will always bring it up, get ready to disassociate that feeling after working with those paragraphs, or chapters.
What no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir or a short piece of non-fiction content is to take as much needed time to process the release of these events, emotions, feelings and sit there with your box of tissues, finish it off and move on. Remember release, let go, heal, give yourself a chat that you deserved at that time, then get your current state of mind to get a check-up from the neck up; next word, next paragraph, next page, next chapter, here we come!
Here’s what no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir or a short piece of non-fiction content is that the speed at which you decide to write specific non-fiction books isn’t up to you unless you are an android. The feelings that come up when writing a non-fiction novel, short story, history book or memoir can change the plan one had in mind initially where perhaps just a few points were aimed to come across to the avatar, and when starting the writing process and getting into it full scale, points arise which can take the writer in a different direction; not necessarily a bad thing though…
Here’s what no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir or a short piece of non-fiction content is unless you do not have a following akin to celebrities why should your book be any better than the next author out there? Why should people choose your book to read? This is by far the most crucial element considering the amount of time and money one would be spending on writing a book and getting it out for the public to access.
Here’s what no writer has ever told you when writing your non-fiction novel, memoir, or a short piece of non-fiction content and that is that the entire process from inception to release needs careful planning keeping your financial resources in check. Honestly, for one to say, today is the day I will drop everything and become a writer isn’t the same as saying today is the day I will quit my job and find me another. A job is replaceable and becoming a writer with thousands of reviews backing you up, comments and a following, now that my friend, is irreplaceable. So, in other words, anything you strive for will have its pay-out and rewards one day, what one puts in one gets and so if the easy way is too easy with just instant gratification rather than a more sustainable solid turnout which we all know takes time, it takes time to build foundations it just doesn’t happen. This is very much true when it comes to writing; for a writer to be listened to, to get renowned time and time again, requires something which the audience keep seeing time and time again, or even keep resonating to quite strongly time and time again. If you want to be a writer, just keep writing… Write without expecting anything in return, write like no one is reading, and just keep going…
