Hello friends,
How are you today?
I understand that things are very crazy right now with lockdowns everywhere. People are rushing to their homes from country to country. I mean I feel like I’m in the real live movie; I am legend only replacing zombies with Coronavirus… I mean who thought this was going to happen on our planet.
In South Africa, only Monday we heard of two cases, yesterday 17 cases and today 24 cases in total. I remembered SARS in 2003, that was crazy. If only then I was reading the news from outside a cruise ship and living on land I’d have somewhat of a comparison, but I don’t and so for me Coronavirus, lockdown, bans, outbreaks, games being cancelled or played indoors, schools closing, masses of people movement being stopped including political leaders working from home is like, scary. In such a short time frame, this is by far the most havoc I’ve really seen in all the years of virus breakouts where the world has to move, rush home, stay indoors, schools closing and where countries are locking down on entry. Masks are sold out for at least seven weeks now and most pharmacies in Johannesburg have none.
I believe billionaires are bailing out and as you already know there are talks about Coronavirus recession.
Where are we currently?
Almost 132 000 cases have been reported from more than 118 countries. The virus is transmitting extremely quickly.
You can find further updates on this site which is the most accurate place https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/events-as-they-happen.
It’s best to just go to WHO (World Health Organisation) site so that you do not get stressed and worried about the information that is not accurate.
South African life right now and the last thing we need is Coronavirus
Here is South Africa we’re used to having problems in life daily; apart from our own problems it’s doubled by problems where we have through third world issues such as the power going at least for up to five hours a day in a week and if you’re lucky, once a week or once in two weeks. Systems going offline when you want to renew your passport, ID etc. So, you could be queuing forever and be waiting for hours and before you know it, it was for nothing. Crisis, I believe there is a crisis always here, the unemployment rate is already very ridiculous and then businesses are at a loss when the power goes down, businesses are losing money and jobs are given in proportion to race laws, affirmative action. So, I am basically praying Coronavirus doesn’t give this country and all other countries more than what it/they already can’t handle. Lastly, health care is nothing like the UK and in some parts of Europe. Here you have to pay for almost every single thing. Public hospitals are already saturated.
Here I am wondering about the people I know who went to China for all the different reasons and believe it or not in two thousand and ten I was offered a contract to go and teach English in China which I didn’t take but I did take that contract seriously; very close to taking it. I’m glad today for a lot of things I’ve turned down in life, a lot of things that happened beyond my control which by the way did bring feelings of regret but always after that something in life showed up that made me say, “Thank you, thank you that is no longer a regret, that which happened or that which I chose. That was the right decision. That was the right thing that happened.” I never thought of rejecting the contract to China as a regret ever, maybe if I’ve never travelled the world, I would have seen it as a regret. At that time teachers could travel around the world to teach English in many parts of the world as a way to travel, earn money and do what they love. A lot of job offers were flying around.
Social bullying and racism
This is an issue worldwide anyway, bullying happens for many reasons, and the Coronavirus outbreak can certainly increase bullying towards Asians living in all parts of the world but truth be told if a tornado is going to come, it’s going to come anyway. Forces beyond our control. You can’t control everything that happens on the planet.
A personal opinion on the conspiracy
The latest is that China is blaming the US Army for bringing the virus to Wuhan. Who knows right? If this virus is caused by the wet market, then this could make sense, but this hasn’t been confirmed. I was looking at Wuhan’s location. There is water around the town and it’s roughly an eight-hour drive from the sea.
Be safe and look after yourself
I’ve been researching on Vitamin C and the Coronavirus. According to this article, scientists are still doing studies on the impact Vitamin C can have on this virus and studies are showing that this is more than a common cold however tests are still been done. Here is the article for your perusal https://www.livescience.com/coronavirus-vitamin-c-myth.html That’s not to say you mustn’t keep healthy. I still feel that fresh fruit and veg is still the best, even raw foods. Have good quality meals.
But, saying this, it’s best to practice being healthy anyway in life. Right now, a lot of fake news is going around, and many people are profiting from their own health books etc recommending their own things. Check your sources, what you’re reading and where the statistics come from and if it’s researched data.
Alright, over and out,
God/Source/Universe bless each and every one of you. Stay safe, strong, healthy, and be happy.
Yours sincerely,
T. Dench Patel
