Hello friends,
Tuesday, hello… hello. (Oh! Bugger! Sorry to remind you that it’s Tuesday)
How are you?
I have been enjoying the garden you know. Looking at the “fruits” of what mum and dad had planted this season. It took three months to nurture until new-born vegetables can be seen. Dad has asked for compost over time and the rains arrived late but at least they’re here now. The sun took a toll on everyone this Spring… a very hot spring, but when the vegetables are matured, that’s it, how nice is it to taste them, enjoy them and even more so feel the benefits of healthy eating. So much for my Sage plant, it never made it through the dawn of Spring. Ya! Yes … I know… booo… who doesn’t have a green finger when it comes to Sage. For sure that’s me. ? At least the pomegranate I planted last year is flourishing… just had to one-up myself there. Maybe I’m no good with “Sages” and better with “Pomegranates” … just saying. One’s got to be there through the whole process before they can see something flourish, while for me it’s a plant for another it’s their children, perhaps a business or whatever it is that one is trying to manifest in their lives. Same concept, right? One has to be present to ensure the right climate for growth, provide where necessary and use their intuition especially in divine timing which leads us nicely into the title of this article Quick wins or slow wins? Do it right, good and bad karma is promised to all, but tomorrow is promised to no one?
What guarantees success? Most of all what guarantees value?
Let’s look at a few names. Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Tony Robbins, Jeff Bezos …. Aag man! Where are the ladies? Rosalía Mera Goyenechea (Heard about her? Heard about Zara?) Why are there so few women? I mean I already have a few role models that come up on my blog post, while some of them are no longer alive, just like the name mentioned above.
You know friends, there truly isn’t any quick rich schemes out there, I will be honest with you, even if you choose the route of moving to a country with a better currency. Everything takes work and over my last two years in South Africa, people of certain mentality seem to think that being a writer using the digital space, creating innovative ways to transmit my work is not even a profession, even though I’ve been doing this every single day (going to be two and a half years soon), did pretty well with exposure during COVID, released a few books, providing game-changing articles, value and content, yet, they still don’t see this as a job. They have no idea how many meetings, webinars, self-study, or training I am on for weeks. Oh! Come on! Why would they understand, most have never followed the route of following what they’re good at and what comes naturally to them. I mean, doesn’t that explain why most Gujaratis study MBA degrees, become doctors, lawyers, accountants, take over the family business, do anything as long as it brings in the money (just so you know, a writer starts from scratch, especially when it comes to T. Dench Patel’s personal history, no handouts by strangers, just ten percent of help could be offered by my immediate family in dire straight situations when stuck and by the way T. Dench Patel is female). You know what that meant/means, being born female in the patriarchal society? Alright, I still didn’t get through, what about being born Indian during Apartheid? To understand further check out The South African: True Colours and The South African: Roamer both books are based on a true story.
Gratefully, readers who find value are making articles like this reach first place on Google.
This might be you now or this could be you one day. You know, my mentor asked this question. What if you had no mother, father, sister, brothers or nephew what would you be doing? Good question, right? I ask you the same only this time I’ll add what if you have no children either, sorry, insensitive me, and if you have no grandparents either? How will you know if your children will live with you when they get married? What is it that you would end up doing or be doing if this was you, where would you rather be? What would you rather be doing? The truth is if you’re growing something, wouldn’t you rather grow something you like, so that you can keep tasting that feeling over and over again so that you can produce more and more of it, simply because it comes from the natural state of flow and better yet if it’s something that you’re naturally gifted with? How would you make a difference in other people’s lives?
Nothing grows from a state/place of comfort – T. Dench Patel, 1 December 2020, 16:23
I mean you might get upset with what I wrote here, or on post number ten, fifteen, twenty, hell even post number one, (whichever one, you choose) but will we remember that when we die? Will we remember this five years later? (I doubt it, if you do, I’m sure I did something good) Will you remember it was me who told you in a long way, just go and experience life, tomorrow is promised to no one. (Walter Payton) Heck, the next fifteen minutes is promised to no one, not even the next second. – T. Dench Patel, 1 December 2020, 16:28 What will you remember when you’re dying or if you find out that you have a couple of days left to live? What will you be asking yourself when you are lying on your death bed?
Where quick wins and comfort are involved we just sell ourselves short, where we’re in search of quick money (cha-ching) because we see that as the only way out of problems or as our worth we lose sight of everything else out there, the world is better than that, abundance is more than the cap we’re giving ourselves or putting on ourselves. Quick wins don’t give us enough chances to take a look at everything properly including our state of flow, it doesn’t give us a chance to adjust, move, shift other aspects of our life because everything is happening quickly and sometimes all at once. We get caught in the emotional rollercoaster rather than slowing down.
Slow wins allow us to pause and breathe, change the sails, adjust them and anchor down if we have to. No rush to compete against the competition, understand what the competitors are doing, apply our learnings and the way the market is going, slow wins allow us to draw back what doesn’t work and put in place what could potentially work. Slow wins over time is what worth is leveraged off be it you, a business, a product, a brand but it doesn’t set a person’s worth in stone as long as things keep moving in a forward direction and as long as you don’t let yourself fall. Slow wins, are not only the wins one seems to associate with in terms of financial gains, slow and small wins can simply mean someone coming out of domestic violence, depression, a hard moment in life, just recently healed from cancer and beginning to take small steps to rise and live the life they desire for themselves.
Quick wins – Plant anywhere, throw anything in it, try quickly various things and methods to make it grow (meaning short cuts and short processes), less or nil studying, less or nil planning, less or nil applying, see what makes it grow at a quicker rate, let it ripen (unless you cut it premature), prepare it nicely (if you have time), deliciously (if you have time), share it (if you have time), more will come if you have prepared the land nicely, the roots are in, firm and the environment is perfect, and keep nurturing it. (Some mistakes can never be undone).
Quick wins come from pressure, lack, no planning, not thinking everything through and the game ends quickly. (Totally subjective of course)
Slow wins – Find the correct environment, plant the seed, pray for it, nurture it (even if it means studying it and applying), grow it, help it grow straight, see the tiny fruit/veg, let it ripen, prepare it nicely, deliciously, taste, enjoy, share and more will come, roots multiply, rinse and repeat. (learn from mistakes over time, catch the mistakes in time, got time to turn them around in most cases and fewer consequences).
Slow winners don’t allow the pressure to make their decisions, see the long-term game, plan better and think all angles through. (Totally subjective of course)
Yours sincerely,
T. Dench Patel
