Hey friends,
how are you today? The weekend? Hope you had a lovely weekend.
I understand it’s hard to stay positive during these times. You’re not alone.
Today, I was very curious about the number seven. I have been seen sevens, even today and say about one year ago I started to learn about angel numbers. I have also been seen double, triple, quadruple, quintuple and sextuple numbers a lot. The reason why I wanted to write about the number seven is because of the curiosity I have around this number, why so many celebrities have seven as their lucky number, for me some of the best things happened on the seventh or even the eighth day. It’s only when I look at it later on, I’m like, “Wow! That was the seventh.” The last flat I lived in was number seven. The way I ended up in that flat was also pretty interesting.
Let’s look at the history of why seven is such an auspicious number, in case you were wondering why people think it’s so lucky. Cristiano Ronaldo wore the number seven jersey when he played for Madrid, and he has claimed the number seven jersey for the country and recent teams he played for. Currently, he even wears the number seven jersey for Juventus FC. Other players in Manchester United that wore the number seven jersey were Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Ángel Di María.

Alright, are you ready? Let’s look into why seven is a highly spiritual number that manifests a lot. Not saying at all that the other numbers are not highly spiritual or have some really good attributes. I personally appreciate the number eight a lot as well. Seven is a very popular one.
Okay, grab yourself a drink, I’m just gathering all my research together in the meanwhile.
…
You’re back, great! Let’s go.
Before I go into the background checks this is why I am curious around the number seven.
- In ancient times seven planets could be seen from earth without a telescope: Venus, Mars, Saturn, Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter. You might discard this because now there are nine planets.
- There are seven energy centres in the body which are called chakras.
- Mainly seven notes used in a musical scale.
- Why seven colours in a rainbow?
Researching on the internet. What is coming up in forums with regards to this question; the subject of this article?
Going into biblical studies, in the Old Testament according to the article below in “Genesis,” it states God created everything in sevens, and it took seven days for God to create everything. A researcher of the bible says that number seven keeps appearing constantly in the books. Two points on this are noted in the link in the forum below. Discussion into this one is pretty clean in the link below. (see below for further research into this as well further into the article)
Here is why other cultures think seven is a lucky number. According to the views in this forum:
- The lunar cycle is 29.53 days. Each of the 4 lunar phases lasts approximately seven days (point noted).
- I still didn’t get the thing about the interval of the woman’s period and the phases of the moon clearly from the link above in the forum.
- There are seven days in a week (point noted).
- The seven deadly sins (point noted).
- In Egypt, the number seven is a symbol of perfection (see below links which go into this bit).
- Interesting point noted from the link above. In French and Latin, the seven days of the week are named according to the planets.
This article Seven reasons why we are captivated with the number seven
These are the points noted from the article above
- There are seven wonders of the world which was also most commonly found on travellers bucket lists and has been significant in ancient times too; the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria.
- In the Islamic religion, the Koran speaks of seven heavens and Muslim pilgrims walk around the Kaaba in Mecca (Islam’s most sacred site) seven times.
- In Hinduism, there are seven higher worlds and seven underworlds, and in Buddhism, the newborn Buddha rises and takes seven steps.
- Linked to superstition and psychology, e.g. slot machines, match to memory capacity; fits our attention span, it’s a prime number and it’s a popular number. The full explanation can be found on the link.
This article Why Lucky 7 really is the worlds’ magical number
These are the points noted from the article above
- A poll of 30 000 people reveals seven is our favourite number.
- Seven seas, seven continents (how did I forget that).
- (Ahahaha) this one is good, Snow White and the seven dwarfs.
Okay it gets weirder and wackier
- 007 – James Bond number
- Shakespeare’s Seven brides for seven brothers
- The film Seven (this one came from me).
- Sinbad the Sailor had seven voyages.
- But some people have the strangest reasons. When asked why she voted for 7 in the poll, one woman said: ‘It is a bit awkward; it can’t be equally divided and won’t bend to the rules so easily.’ (noted from the article in the link above)
This article Numbers, culture and superstition
These are the points noted from the article from Ian Stewart, a British mathematician and author at the University of Warwick
- An interesting point made about 7 July 2007 and three times as many weddings taking place in the US.
- “Surprisingly, the number seven is consistently considered lucky, even for very different cultures. Everyone knows that in western casinos, a person wins at the slot machines if they get triple sevens, and seven is the most probable outcome of rolling two dice. But even the ancient Greeks thought seven was a special number.”
- Pythagoreans in ancient Greece thought the number three represented the spiritual world with the number four as the four essential elements in the physical world: fire, wind, water and earth. 4+3= 7
- “The Chinese also have a special reverence for the number seven. They believe that many stages of their lives are related to that number, he explains. People get their baby teeth when they’re seven months old, their adult teeth when they’re seven years old, go through puberty when they’re 14, which is 2 times 7, women go through menopause when they’re 49, which is 7 times 7. Stewart says people find these patterns significant because they suggest, in one sense, a grand plan. Clearly, he notes, these ages aren’t exact, women don’t always go through menopause at 49, but they’re very close approximations. And the number seven keeps coming up.”
Check out this article, also very interesting The meaning and history behind the world’s favourite number
- The Beckhams daughter Harper’s second name is Seven.
The article on the link above is pretty interesting as it also goes into the research behind having seven hours of sleep and more about Judaism other religions and the Japanese culture.
Check out this article What’s so special about the number seven?
I particularly found these interesting from the article above.
- “The number 7 is much more prevalent in nature than most of us realize: There are 7 oceans, 7 continents, 7 vertebrae in the neck, 7 layers of skin (2 outer and 5 inner), ocean waves roll in sevens, the rainbow has 7 colours, sound has 7 notes, there are 7 directions, The Jewish Menorah has 7 candles, there are 7 holes in your head (go ahead and count them), the earth was created in 7 days (including a day of rest), a cube has 7 dimensions (including the inside), the male body has 7 parts, the number 7 is used 735 times in the Bible.”
- 7-year cycles and economics. (Check out the research on this in the article).
- 7 wonders of the modern world were chosen on the 7 July 2007.
On the 19th of May 2020, the day after posting this article, during lunch, my parents told me that in Hindu weddings the bride and the groom go around the Holy fire seven times and make seven promises. Each round is for each promise.
Please don’t tell me it will take seven months for Coronavirus to go, seven months for us to make some money, get rid of all our debts and another seven months to go and see just one of the wonders of the world. (Just kiddin, felt like it matched the content of this article).
There you go, I think I wiped out as many sites as possible to find research on this article on the internet. I even went to Wikipedia.
I believe a lot of people were wondering about the number seven.
Yours sincerely,
T. Dench Patel
Ps. Grammarly has just given me an overall score of 77 for this article 😀
